What we process

Account data: email address, password hash, year of birth, and when you accepted the terms. Signing in with Apple additionally stores the identifier Apple issues; Apple may provide a relay address rather than your real one.

Profile data: display name, handle, optional first and last name, bio, country, region, language, preferred units and profile picture.

Catch data: species, length, weight, date, and optionally a note, country, region, water, exact coordinates, photographs and videos.

Technical data: on sign-in we store the user agent and a salted hash of your IP address. The address itself is never stored. This is used only to detect abuse.

Location data

Exact coordinates are private by default and shown to nobody but you unless you explicitly change that. Country, region, water name and exact position can each be shared independently.

All metadata is stripped from uploaded photographs before they are stored or served, including any GPS coordinates written into EXIF by your camera.

Tracking and analytics

Catch and Swim uses no analytics, advertising or tracking services. No cookies are set for analysis and no data is passed to third parties for advertising.

Only strictly necessary cookies are used, to keep you signed in and to remember your language. For operations we collect aggregate counts only, with no personal reference.

Retention

Data is kept for as long as your account exists. After a deletion request the account is removed once a 14-day grace period has passed; signing in during that period cancels the deletion.

Guest profiles you created for other people are retained, because the records belong to those people.

Data exports are deleted automatically after seven days.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection under the GDPR.

Access and portability can be exercised directly in the app under Settings, which produces a complete machine-readable copy of your data. Account deletion is available in the same place.
